Arts Conference in Rotorua in October
ROTORUA 28.08.09: Rotorua's 3rd Biennial Arts Conference is taking place in October and registrations are now open.
The Rotorua District Council-coordinated event aims to provide artists, and those working in arts organisations and related fields, with the opportunity to expand their understanding of creative markets and reach new audiences.
RDC community arts officer, Kiri Jarden, says the conference attracts some of the country’s most creative artists, entrepreneurs, arts managers and marketers.
“Relationships forged at events like these have the potential to make a real impact on how people work and who they work with in the future.”
The organising team consists of local artist Jill Walker, Auckland marketing and communications expert Jillian de Beer, Arts Waikato arts advisor Renee Casserly, Rotorua Arts Village Experience trustee Don Hunt and Ms Jarden.
Ms Jarden says the range of speakers attending the conference offer something for everyone, and topical issues at the cutting edge of arts development will be addressed.
“There is no formal professional body and there is limited access to arts management studies, community delivery, and policy development. Working with diversity is an issue that arts communities worldwide are addressing, and an expert panel will discuss this at the conference.”
The 3rd Biennial Arts Conference is being held from 12 - 13 October at Millennium Hotel.
