PSA disappointed govt rejected Maori seats on Auckland super city
The Public Service Association is disappointed the government has ruled out having designated Maori seats on the Auckland ‘super city’ council.
“The Royal Commission on Auckland governance looked closely at this issue and recommended having Maori seats on the single Auckland council,” says PSA national secretary Brenda Pilott.
“We supported that recommendation and are disappointed the government has completely rejected it following Rodney Hide’s threat to resign as Local Government Minister on this issue,” says Brenda Pilott.
