Get your arts project funded and off the ground
Get your arts project funded and off the ground
Do you or your community group have a project that will help increase participation in the arts at a local level and increase the range and diversity of arts available to communities?
Then you could be eligible for funding and advice from Auckland City Council.
Auckland City Council is inviting applications for the second round of funding for this year’s Creative Communities scheme.
Creative Communities is a partnership between Creative New Zealand and Auckland City Council that offers funding for projects that encourage active participation in the arts at a local level, allowing people to develop their artistic skills through diverse art projects that benefit the community.
Auckland City Council is running four information sessions at various locations across the city from 5 to 27 August 2009 for groups and individuals with arts-related projects taking place between December 2009 and November 2010. The sessions provide advice on the application process and criteria, ensuring applicants have the best chance for success.
The sessions are being held at:
Waiheke Island - Wednesday 5 August, 12 midday
Artworks Theatre, Oneroa, Waiheke Island
Artstation, Ponsonby Road - Wednesday 12 August, 12 midday
Orakei Marae, Kupe Street - Wednesday 19 August, 12 midday
Great Barrier Island - Thursday
27 August, 1pm
The Nurse's Cottage, Port Fitzroy
Councillor Greg Moyle, chairperson of the Arts, Culture
and Recreation committee, says the scheme encourages people
to make the most of their own creative talents in a way that
involves members of the local community.
“The funding
helps groups or individuals to get their projects off the
ground. These can be new projects or fresh ideas that expand
on existing arts ventures,” says Mr Moyle.
“I would
urge people to attend one of the information sessions to
learn about the scheme and the funding available to them -
this will greatly assist them in your application.”
Applications are due before 4.30pm, Friday 4 September for projects that take place between late December 2009 and November 2010.
