CNN reporter in Ak to discuss new media & election

Veteran CNN reporter Ralph Begleiter in Auckland to
discuss the new media and the American Presidency

Former CNN World Affairs Correspondent Ralph J. Begleiter will be in Auckland this Sunday to discuss the new digital media and the American Presidency. Ralph will be giving a free lecture at Auckland University’s Clocktower Building at 6:00pm on the evening of Sunday, July 19. The topic is: ‘How the new media affected the 2008 US Presidential election campaign, and future challenges to journalism in the United States and internationally.’

During two decades as CNN’s ‘world affairs correspondent’, Ralph Begleiter was the network’s most widely-travelled reporter. His current visit to Australasia will see him chalk up his 97th country (and seventh continent). Now Rosenberg Professor of Communication at the University of Delaware, Ralph brings more than 30 years of broadcast journalism experience to the university, where he teaches communication, journalism, and political science.

Ralph’s talk in Auckland is co-hosted by the New Zealand Institute of International Affairs and the U.S. Consulate General.

Ralph teaches undergraduate courses in ‘Broadcast News,’‘History of TV News Documentary,’ ‘Broadcast News Documentary,’ ‘Global Media & International Politics,’ and ‘Introduction to Journalism’ and has taught special courses such as a study abroad programme in Antarctica and South America in photojournalism and geopolitics and ‘The Road to the Presidency’ during election years.
