Colourful Open Day at Wellington Access Radio
Radio made by, for and about the Wellington community. That’s been the focus of Wellington Access Radio for twenty eight
years - and now they’re opening their doors for you to come and see what they’re all about!
The station is hosting a colourful open day and is inviting anyone interested to come in and have a look around the
studios, and learn more about your community station.
Wellington Access Radio was New Zealand’s first community access station, and is proudly supported by New Zealand on
Air. It offers a platform for people who don’t get a say in mainstream media. People on Wellington Access Radio make
programmes in an effort to promote issues and events that are important to their community. Right now over 120 groups
broadcast on the station, in over 25 languages. They’re about free speech, inclusion and the Wellington community.
You’d be hard pressed to find a station that broadcasts more interesting, grassroots content about our awesome city!
The open day will be held on Saturday 25th July from 1pm at the studios on Ghuznee Street. Come and see how a live radio
station works, interact with the vibrant, multi-cultural Programme Makers, and perhaps even have a chat on air. There
will be exciting presentations and performances throughout the afternoon.
So pop it in your diary now - they can’t wait to meet you.
