Airbus Express flies high
An efficient transport link to and from the airport is the making of every good city in today’s global economy, and Auckland’s airport connection, the Airbus Express, is flying high.
Airbus, in partnership with the Auckland Regional Transport Authority (ARTA), introduced additional buses to the fleet in response to customer demand, and increased frequency to every fifteen minutes in June of last year. Latest year to date figures show that patronage on the Airbus Express service has increased by an outstanding 13.5%.
The thriving service provides an economical means of travelling between the city and airport, and serves as a quick and easy shuttle service for tourists and business travellers. At just $22 for an adult return, and around a 45 minute trip from the airport to the centre of the city, the Airbus Express is a great option for everyone.
Auckland Regional Transport Authority’s General Manager, Customer Services, Mark Lambert says, “At the end of the day, it’s a great service - quick, easy, reliable and low cost. It has been a key priority for ARTA to improve public transport to the airport, and these results show that Aucklanders, and visitors to Auckland, are making the most of it.
“Services start from 4.30am and run through until 10.15pm. There are stops around the city, and the buses are bright blue, so it couldn’t be simpler for those visiting Auckland to spot them.
”A number of vehicles in service on the Airbus Express are Euro5 which means that they emit fewer emissions and therefore have a reduced carbon footprint. Further environmentally friendly vehicles will enter the fleet later this year to build further on passenger growth.”
”The introduction of the Northern Flyer, connecting the North Shore with the airport with one single ticket has also proved to be very successful, making a great contribution to the accessibility of the airport.” Mr Lambert says.
