Takapuna bus terminal gets facelift
Takapuna bus terminal gets facelift
May 4, 2009
Works are underway to smarten up the busy Takapuna bus terminal - making it more attractive and comfortable for bus users.
The facelift is for all nine shelters and will include sandblasting work, repair of damaged parts, steel galvanization, a repaint of the structures, and restoration of existing wooden seating.
Rusted rubbish bins around the terminal area will also be replaced with new stainless steel ones while existing glass panels, which are currently badly etched, will be removed, polished and reinstalled.
There will also be some new additional glass wind break screens added onto each side of the nine shelters.
These will provide shelter from wind and rain in the cooler months ahead.
Council has recycled materials where possible to keep costs low and the environmental impact minimal.
Refurbishment works will take approximately six weeks to complete with just two terminals worked on at a time to minimise disruption to bus users.
We would like thank bus users for their patience and hope the bus riding public enjoy the end result.
