Electricity upgrade welcome news for Auckland business

One Auckland business area badly affected by Auckland's power black-outs in recent months and years is pleased to hear that the Electricity Commission has approved a $473 million Transpower project which will help secure Auckland's electricity supply.

"Security of electricity is absolutely paramount if Auckland is to reach its full potential. Lets not forget that according to Statistics New Zealand the Auckland region will be two million people by around 2030,” says Cameron Brewer, head of the Newmarket Business Association.

"Auckland is growing by about the size of Timaru every year, the size of Dunedin every four years and the size of Hamilton every five years. To cope with the enormous project population growth Auckland needs electricity infrastructure it can rely on. The Electricity Commission's latest approval is encouraging indeed,” said Cameron Brewer.
