Hot air or small wind in Waitati?
Hot air or small wind in Waitati?
Energy-saving and generation projects around the rural Dunedin township of Waitati will be the subject of a University of Otago Geography Department seminar next week.
The seminar "Hot air or small wind in Waitati?" on Wednesday 6 May will discuss the small coastal community's search for sustainable energy solutions.
Scott Willis, of Waitati Energy Project, will be going over his group's actions and dreams.
Waitati activists and researchers have worked together to develop home insulation retrofits, small-scale power generation.
These ideas have grown in a background of environmental and alternative activism over many decades, ranging from 'Mushroom' magazine of the 1970s to the recent Orokonui Ecosanctuary predator-free nature reserve.
The seminar will be held in Room 5N4, Floor 5 of the Richardson Building, at the University of Otago, at: 1 pm.
