LAKE WANAKA, New Zealand (March 4, 2009) – The Festival of Colour today announced additional shows for several of the performances that have already sold out at the 2009 arts festival in that will take place in Lake Wanaka and the surrounding region from 28 April to 3 May.
Unprecedented demand for some of the shows and long waitlists have resulted in extra performances of Le Sud (Monday 4 May at 7pm, Lake Wanaka Centre), Tale of a Dog (Thursday 30 April at 11am, Lake Wanaka Centre) and the Wellington International Ukulele Orchestra (Thursday 30 April at 7pm, Luggate Hall). Three additional screenings of Grahame Sydney’s film, Dreaming of El Dorado, are scheduled for 10am on Wednesday 29, Thursday 30 April and Friday 1 May at Cinema Paradiso.
“We are blown away by the huge response to this year’s programme and we’re delighted to work with the artists to give people a chance to see these wonderful performances,” said festival director, Philip Tremewan. “The festival has captured the imagination of such a diverse audience, as shown by the demand for these shows which range from a children’s play to the latest work by one of New Zealand’s leading playwrights.”
