2009 Season Launch - Basquiat

Published: Tue 24 Feb 2009 05:18 PM
Hi Everyone
The 2009 screening season will kick off on Monday 2 March, 6:30pm, at Rialto Moorhouse with a screening of BASQUIAT. Directed by Julian Schnabel (The Diving Bell and the Butterfly, Lou Reed's Berlin), this star-studded film is part of our season LANDSCAPE OF DREAMS featuring visiting Polish director LECH MAJEWSKI, who wrote and co-produced BASQUIAT.
We will be showing three films directed by Majewski in the early part of our season, and he'll be attending our screening on March 23 to give a talk and answer questions. He will be resident in Christchurch for five weeks, during which time there will be other screenings, and a public seminar series by Majewski.
For full details, see our website - www.canterburyfilmsocietyorg.nz - If you were a member last year, your membership will still be valid for this first film. If you're not yet a member or your membership has expired, please be aware you can now join online via direct deposit. See website for details.
The 2009 brochures have been out for a week now, and can be found at Alice in Videoland, Real Groovy, Rialto Cinemas, the city library, and lots of other central city cafes.
