Bus replacements btwn Homai & Otahuhu this weekend

ARTA Media Release
23 February 2009

Bus replacements between Homai and Otahuhu this weekend

The Auckland Regional Transport Authority (ARTA) advises that a revised timetable will be operating between Homai and Otahuhu on the Southern line on Saturday 28 February and Sunday 1 March to allow for the completion of ongoing work to improve the rail network.

ARTA's General Manager, Customer Services, Mark Lambert says, "Bus replacements will be in place between Homai and Otahuhu on the Southern Line during this weekend as sleepers are replaced on a section of track between Puhinui and Papatoetoe. This is work that can not be done while there are trains running, and is part of the continual upgrade to the Auckland rail network.

"Passengers are advised to check timetables carefully before travelling, and to allow extra time for their journey."

Where buses replace trains, normal train fares will apply for the entire journey. Passengers should look out for the RAIL BUS sign at affected stations.

"We understand that the bus replacements may cause disruptions to passengers. The support and understanding of passengers while this important work is taking place is greatly appreciated" Mr Lambert says.

Passengers can get more information about the bus replacements and about Southern line train timetables from MAXX on (09) 366 6400 or at www.maxx.co.nz
