Secrets Of A Happy Herbaceous Border
They’re garden circles whose members prefer compost to cups of tea. And their secrets are about to be revealed.
Herbaceous borders will be the focus of a free public workshop at Hollard Gardens, Kaponga, this Sunday (22 February), starting at 10am and running for about two hours.
It will be led by Greg Rine, Regional Gardens Manager for the Taranaki Regional Council, which owns and manages Hollard Gardens on behalf of the people of the region.
“Having a happy herbaceous border is like having a great group of friends together – always having something to offer and nice to be with,” says Mr Rine. “And as with any gathering, the sum is greater than the parts.”
He says workshop participants will be able to share their experiences with composition, depth, colour and seasonal interest.
The event will be held at the new events pavilion on the main lawn at Hollard Gardens. Hot drinks will be provided.
The workshop is part of a year-long programme of public events planned at Hollard Gardens and at New Plymouth’s Tupare, another heritage property owned and managed by the Taranaki Regional Council.
