Water quality advisory: Eastern Beaches

Last night the wastewater pumping station at Orakei was affected by yesterday’s power failure in East Auckland causing overflows, which are likely to affect the water quality at Okahu Bay and Mission Bay.

Auckland City Council’s environmental health team has posted signs at the beaches advising people not to swim at the beaches.

The council conducted water quality testing last night and is awaiting the results.  More water quality tests were conducted this morning.

The council is advising people not to swim in these areas until tomorrow afternoon which will be 48 hours after the overflow occurred.

Please visit Auckland City Council’s website for more information.
