Free Guided Tours of Manukau Parks
Free Guided Tours of Manukau Parks
The school holidays and summer could be a good time for anyone interested in exploring Manukau parks and learning about the natural environment.
That exploration can get so much easier with one of the guided tours offered by Manukau Parks in the wonderful Mangemangeroa Valley and Clevedon Scenic Reserve later this month.
The Mangemangeroa walk provides an opportunity to experience the natural forest landscape and estuary of the beautiful diverse valley situated at the edge of urban Manukau, says parks ranger Anna Baine. "You can learn about its cultural heritage and increase your understanding of the valley’s ecosystems."
Or those with good fitness levels could walk with a parks ranger through 100 hectares of native bush, wetlands and waterfall habitat rising 225 metres above the Wairoa river in Clevedon Scenic Reserve. "Here you can learn to identify the native plants, birds and insects in the reserve while increasing your knowledge of the environmental issues which face the area today."
