Water emergency

Water emergency
Shortly after 11am this morning police received an urgent call via cellphone, for assistance from a vessel in distress.
The vessel was south of Gulf Harbour (Whangaparaoa)and was taking on water. The three adult occupants were wearing Life Jackets.
The vessel overturned and the three were left clinging to the hull.
A search coordinated by the Police maritime unit was commenced involving Westpac helicopter rescue, a fixed wing aircraft, Coastguard and land based police.
The vessel was located shortly before midday and all three adults are well.
Police wish to thank Coastguard and other vessels that assisted in the search and recovery phase .
