Updated plans for Kawakawa Bay landslip area

Media Release

Council to update plans for Kawakawa Bay landslip area

A public meeting to update the community on the plans to re-open the road into Kawakawa Bay landslip will be held on Tuesday 16 December.

The meeting will start at 7pm at Kawakawa Bay Community Hall.

Manukau City Council Economic Director Rick Walden says the council promised it would report back to the community before Christmas with the final plans.

“We understand the community want to know what is being done to re-open both sides of the road and when the work will start.

“It has always been our intention to have these plans ready before Christmas, so that work can be carried out during the summer months.

“While the community have had to wait for the council to work through the details, we’re confident these plans are the long-term solution the community have been asking for.

“Once again I want to thank everyone for their patience and cooperation.

“I encourage everyone to attend the meeting,” says Mr Walden.

The plans will outline work needed to stabilise the landslip that closed the road in August.
