Fun story times under the Manukau sun

Manukau City Council's Libraries and Parks are proud to present Story Times in the Park at various locations across the city.

Part of the Summer Parks Programme, the first of these fun, interactive events kicks off later this month at Nathan Homestead in Manurewa. Manurewa's long-serving Children's Librarian Lesley Clark will be reading Christmas stories for the young and young at heart to enjoy.

This is one of the few opportunities left to hear Lesley read as she will be retiring in late January after more than 20 years of dedicated service to Manurewa families.

Learning and Literacy Coordinator for Manukau Libraries Jody Gayton says, "Lesley is a fabulous, entertaining storyteller. We guarantee it will be a fun session.

"The story times offer a wonderful opportunity for children to interact with their local parks and enjoy the summer weather."

Jody says all children must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver and suggests families bring a blanket along so they can listen in comfort. The story times are free and each child who attends will receive a small gift.

Each session starts at 10.30am and will be approximately an hour long.

Dates and locations of Story Times in the Park:

* Friday, 19 December at Nathan Homestead, Manurewa * Friday, 16 January at Burnside Park, Papatoetoe * Friday, 20 February at Crawford Reserve, Howick * Friday, 13 March at Otamariki Park, Otara
