Hazardous waste collection comes to Manurewa

The Hazmobile will be in Manurewa this Saturday to collect household hazardous waste and safely dispose of it free of charge.

When: 10am - 2pm, Saturday 22 November.

Where: Public carpark at the Homai Railway Station, corner of Dalgety Road and Browns Road.

The Hazmobile collects any waste from around the home, garden or garage that is potentially dangerous to health or the environment, or can cause damage to property.

The HazMobile accepts:
• Household chemicals such as cleaners, disinfectants, polishes and pool chemicals
• Garden chemicals such as pesticides, herbicides and fertilisers
• Automotive products such as waste oil, petrol, diesel and brake fluid
• DIY products such as solvents, glues and wood preservatives
• Fluorescent tubes and energy-saving light bulbs
• 9 kg LPG gas cylinders
• All types of batteries
• Mobile phones
• Lead based and marine anti-fouling paints.
Other unwanted paint and paint containers can be taken to your local Resene Colourshop, Placemakers or Enviropaints in East Tamaki for recycling.

The Hazmobile only accepts waste in amounts that would reasonably be expected to come from a household. No commercial quantities are accepted.

The next Hazmobile collection in Manukau is in Pakuranga on Saturday 21 February 2009 in the public carpark in Lloyd Elsmore Park.
