Consultation begins on business zones
______________________________________________________________
Public consultation opens tomorrow on urban design issues and options in the Christchurch City Council’s Central City Business and Business 2 Zones.
The Central City and Central City Edge zones essentially cover inner city Christchurch, while the Business 2 and 2P Zones include suburban shopping centres and malls around the city.
The consultation is looking at urban design issues such as whether new developments look good, whether they work, how they relate to surrounding buildings and whether people can find their way around and into places easily.
Depending on the outcome of the consultation, there could be a change to the City Plan, which would be publicly notified.
Consultation runs until 10 December, after which submissions will be compiled and considered by the Council early next Year.
The Council is holding a drop-in session for the general public at the St Albans Community Centre 1047 Colombo Street on 20 November from 3pm to 6pm, plus further sessions for other interested groups such as residents associations and professional bodies.
The full Issues and Options document can be viewed at any of the Council’s service centres and libraries as well as at the Tuam Street Civic Offices and summary documents with a submission form attached are available at the same locations. Alternatively, members of the public can submit on-line via the Council’s Have Your Say website at www.ccc.govt.nz. The Issues and Options document is also available on the website.
