Tenth anniversary of arts festival

Tenth anniversary of arts festival

This year¹s Nelson Arts Festival church service at the Cathedral marks the tenth anniversary of this popular annual event.

The service will be held at 6pm on Sunday October 19, and will feature a trumpet fanfare, Wearable Arts models, the Cathedral Choir, Mosaic World Music Choir and Belle a Cappella from Waimea College.

People will be able to hear and sing the new 150th hymn composed for the city¹s anniversary celebrations, with music by Bishop Richard Ellena and words by Dean Charles Tyrrell. The Dean says the service reflects the creativity of the Nelson region at this time of year.

³People come to this service to acknowledge and celebrate the spiritual dynamic within our creative gifts,² the Dean says. ³

The arts speak to us body, soul and spirit and the arts festival service acknowledges that with movement, music and visual art.²

Everyone is welcome to attend the service at the Cathedral at 6pm on Sunday. The Cathedral will also be showing an exhibition of works by artists from Nikau House, Magenta Creative Space and Community Art Works. Ends
