Clovelly Road residents move back home

Residents of 114, 120, 122a and 124 returned to their homes over the weekend.

Manukau City Council took precautionary steps and asked these residents to evacuate earlier because of the danger posed by the slip.

Residents were asked to seek independent advice that their houses were not at risk, before moving back into their homes.

Organisational Performance Director Robyn McCulloch acknowledges that it's been a trying time for the families involved.

"I want to thank everybody for their cooperation during this difficult time. We appreciate their patience and understanding.

Although these residents have returned to their homes, there is still a risk to the wider public, especially sightseers below the cliff face.

The area of 114a, 116 and 118 remains cordoned off as well as the walkway leading down to the foreshore.

"I want to remind people to stay away from the foreshore directly below these properties," says Ms McCulloch.
