With the Election coming up, loveable rogue/ sound engineer/ Vic Uni Student President Joel Cosgrove has taken matters into his own hands.
"I knew the election was coming up and I never manage to get the politicians to answer the questions I have. So I decided to hold my own forum at my house so they have to answer them." Says Cosgrove.
"Over time I've found myself divorced from parliamentary politics in general, it never really relates." Feels Joel. "It's all streamlined professional political parties, not the old school mass-membership parties you used to have."
"I challenged one candidate to have a cottage meeting at my house and the rest all jumped in as soon as they heard, I guess it's more of a cottage forum now." states Cosgrove.
"I get on really well with the local student radio station the VBC, as soon as they heard about it, they immediately agreed to DJ as well as doing a live to air"
"I've had a great response so far. It's different and less stage managed than most forums that happen nowadays, I guess they like the fact that it's set up for them and not the politicians." says Joel.
ENDS.
