First Division Win Brings Joy to Taupo
A Lotto First Division win in Taupo will bring a welcome windfall to a lucky player this weekend, says NZ Lotteries' Chief Executive, Todd McLeay.
The winning ticket was purchased at United Video, Taupo, and is worth a total of $2 million.
Powerball has jackpotted again this week, and will be worth an estimated $6 million in next Saturday's draw.
Strike also jackpotted and will be worth an estimated $200,000 next week.
Tonight's other big winner was Tim Hefford, who spun the Winning Wheel on the live Lotto draw, winning $200,000.
As part of his prize package, Tim and his wife Ruth enjoyed a luxury stay at the Duxton Hotel in Wellington, a shopping trip with a stylist for an outfit to wear on the show, and lunch with Lotto presenter Matt Lawrey.
All Lotto players are automatically in the draw to win the opportunity to spin Lotto's Winning Wheel, regardless of the type of ticket they buy. Players can check their ticket at any lottery outlet.
Tonight's Winning Wheel ticket was sold at Timaru Pak N Save and the serial number is 052-52247557-20XX.
"Anyone who bought a ticket at any of these winning retailers should write their name on the back of the ticket and check it as soon as possible at any NZ Lotteries' outlet," Mr McLeay says.
Tonight also marked the start of Lotto's 21st birthday celebrations. To honour this landmark event, Lotto will be giving away 2,100 extra prizes worth over $5.4 million on 2 August its biggest draw ever.
