MEDIA RELEASE
TRANSIT NEW ZEALAND WELLINGTON REGIONAL OFFICE
10 July 2008
Minor guardrail maintenance work at MacKays Crossing next week
Transit New Zealand will be undertaking minor guardrail maintenance work at MacKays Crossing this week to adjust some post heights.
Transit Regional Manager Graham Taylor says the work, which begins today, Thursday 10 July and should be completed by 18 July, will take place outside of peak traffic hours in the left-hand lanes of the crossing. This means the left-hand lanes will be closed while work is carried out for the safety of workers at the side of the road.
Transit New Zealand advises road users that the northbound left-hand lane will be closed between 7.00am and 3.30pm while the southbound left-hand lane will be closed between 8.30am and 5.00pm.
The work being done is minor and has been coordinated to minimise the affect to road users. Traffic flows will be continuously monitored to ensure that any delays are kept to a minimum.
Transit thanks the public in advance for their patience while this maintenance is undertaken.
