Get in touch with your creative side with Arts in the City
Manukau City Council’s free Arts in the City Term 3 and 4 catalogue, a guide to citywide events, exhibitions and programmes is now available from Manukau arts centres and libraries. From exhibitions by emerging artists, fashion awards, drama and dance classes, the range of activities is impressive.
Otara Music Arts Centre continues to offer popular music classes and music technology sessions in its SoundHouse computer suite.  Community groups and local musicians looking to access affordable and professional recording studio services should contact OMAC’s Village Recording Studio.
Nathan Homestead has a wide range of art, craft, music, performing arts and lifestyle classes.  For children and teens there’s art and drawing classes with Toni Mosley and cartoon art with Nooroa Te Hira.  Daryl Wrightson leads an impressive range of performing arts and drama classes and there’s junior and intermediate dance as well as hip hop for teens with Georgina Taare.
With a wide range of adult classes to choose from, there is something for the whole family to enjoy.
Current exhibitions include Passion by artists from Tufuga Arts at Mangere Arts Centre. At Nathan Homestead a solo show by Howick artist Gae Webster ‘From here I can almost see the Sea’ opens on 11 July with a special artist talk on Sunday, 13 July at 2pm.
