Manukau mayor’s condition no longer critical.

25 June 2008

Manukau mayor’s condition no longer critical.

Manukau mayor Len Brown is now in a stable condition in Auckland Hospital’s intensive care unit and is progressing well.

Acting mayor Gary Troup says news of the mayor’s progress is very positive.

“There is still a long way to go for Len yet,” Mr Troup says.

“But he has been taken off the critical list today and that is fantastic.”

Mr Troup has been in regular contact with Mr Brown’s family since the mayor collapsed at the Pacific Music Awards on May 31. Mr Brown had major heart bypass surgery three days later.

He required further surgery after a serious setback last week.
