TRANSIT NEW ZEALAND WELLINGTON REGIONAL OFFICE
30 May 2008
Buckle Street Closure for “Tribute 08” Event
Transit New Zealand would like to advise road users that Buckle Street will be closed this Sunday for the “Tribute 08” Event.
Transit Central Operations Manager Mark Owen says the closure from 7.00am until 11.00am is for Memorial Service to be held at the National War Memorial, expected to be attended by as many as 5000 people. The 9.30am service is part of a weekend of events this Queens Birthday weekend, which will serve as a commemoration and reunion of Vietnam Veterans and their families.
Road users are advised to use alternative routes to the city from Evans Bay Parade or Newtown while the road is closed. Electronic message boards will be placed in Kent Terrace, Cobham Drive and Newtown to alert motorists to the closure.
Mr Owen says the road will be reopened after 11.00am.
Any inconvenience is regretted and we thank you for your patience.
