Citizenship ceremony
Two Dutch, three Korean and six British are among the small number of foreigners to gain New Zealand citizenship this
month. The ceremony will be held on Monday 5th May 2008 in the Hastings District Council Chamber at 7.00pm.

Kaumatua, Mr Jim Whaanga will welcome those present on behalf of tangata whenua, with entertainment provided by the
Kirsty McMinn-Collard. Others guests expected are friends of the Korean family flying over especially for the event.
Each candidate will receive a copy of “Spanish Mission, Styles of Five Decades” by Peter Shaw, presented by Mayor
Lawrence Yule, along with a Kowhai tree grown at the Hastings District Council’s Nursery, which symbolises “putting down
roots”. Representation from the 7th Wellington (City of Wellington’s Own) and Hawke’s Bay Regiment will attend the
Mayor.
