The Investigation Team in relation to the disappearance of Marie Davis wish to advise that a body has been located in the Waimakariri River, Christchurch. Police are unable to confirm the gender or identity of the body at this stage as a formal identification process will be required.
Detective Senior Sergeant Le Bas states that the Police investigation team will be continuing with the searching of the Waimakariri River area, upstream of the Main North Road Overbridge, State Highway 1.
Detective Senior Sergeant Le Bas asks that if any members of the public have noticed any suspicious activities or items in the Northcote Area of Christchurch or in the area upstream of the Main North Road Overbridge on the Waimakariri river in and around the early hours of the 6th April 2008, to please contact the Operation Davis Base on telephone numbers 0272711308 or 3637400.
A Press Conference will be held at the Christchurch Central Police Station at 1.30 pm
