Body Recovery Waikato River
New Zealand Police Waikato
11 April 2008
Hamilton Police are working to formally identify a man who's body was found floating in the Waikato River this morning.
The man was discovered by workers on a barge near Days Park who saw an object floating in the river shortly before 9.30am.
Initially believing the object to be a log the workers realised it was actually a body and contacted Police who coordinated recovery efforts.
It is believed the body is that of an Asian man reported missing in the city on Saturday.
There are no indications at this stage the man's death was suspicious and Police are working with other agencies and consulates to enable the formal identification process to be completed.
