Wintec Radio Station's Week on Wheels
"Ladies and gentlemen start your engines..!"
That might be the call as student announcers at Wintec's student radio station Max-FM start their engines for a week long celebration of all things automotive.
The Week on Wheels radio programme kicks off on Monday night at 7pm and leads into the start of the Hamilton 400 racing on Friday.
Max-FM station manager Jeremy Barrack says the Week on Wheels show will feature rock songs from the past 30 years - all of them dedicated to cars and the long thin white line.
"We wanted to create a programme that brought together songs dedicated to the love of cars from the 1950s to the present day - the Week on Wheels programme celebrates cars and the men and women that love them."
Max-FM students are lining up some classic odes to Detroit chrome and steel including, "I'm in Love with My Car' by Queen, "Hot-Rod Lincoln" by Commander Cody and His Lost Planet Airmen, "Radar Love" by Golden Earring and "Drive" by our own Bic Runga.
The radio show is open to requests from car enthusiasts.
"We're expecting more than one request for Steppenwolf's "Born to Be Wild," Barrack said.
The Week on Wheels programme will air nightly next week 7pm Monday to Friday on Max-FM 107.1FM or on-line at www.maxfm.co.nz
