Record Crowds At Devonport Food, Wine & Music Festival
More than 8000 people enjoyed the festivities at the Devonport Food, Wine & Music Festival today (Sat 16th Feb), the largest crowd in the events 19 year history.
The crowds flocked to hear the likes of Hollie Smith, Greg Johnson, and Nesian Mystik, as well as enjoy the array of
food and wine from all over New Zealand.
Organisers had to close the gates to all but those with pre-purchased tickets, and only pre-purchased ticket holders
were advised to take the ferry from downtown mid afternoon.
Tickets are still available for Sunday 17th.
The Saturday sell-out is great news for the Rotary Club of Devonport who own the Festival, as proceeds from the event go
to charity. Rotary Club spokesman, Ian Bailey said “We’re delighted with the record number of people. The mix of top
quality bands has really made this a must attend event. The really great thing is it means that we’re very close to
having raised $2m for local and national charities since we started the Festival. We’re confident that by the end of
Sunday we’ll have hit that target”.
The main recipient of proceeds from this year’s event is Youthline.
