Waimauku Structure Plan

The Rodney District Council is holding Open Days in February and March to seek the views of the public on four proposals for the future of Waimauku as part of the Waimauku Structure Plan project.

Three proposals for the future of Waimauku have been developed in the Structure Plan process and the fourth is a private proposal. The proposals are intended to be distinct choices on how Waimauku could develop into the future.

1. Structure Plan proposal 1 – Low density township (down zoning – reducing existing development/subdivision opportunities)
2. Structure Plan proposal 2 – Medium density township (no change to existing zonings)
3. Structure Plan proposal 3 – Limited urban expansion (south east fringes)
4. Private proposal – Significant urban expansion (Cornerstone - ‘Waimauku Estate’)

As part of the public consultation the Council are sending out a project newsletter and feedback form to all landowners in the study area. Open Days are being held so members of the public can drop in to see larger maps of the proposals and ask any questions of Council staff.

The Open Days will be held at the Waimauku Hall on Saturday 23 February (11.00am-3.00pm), Tuesday 26 February (7.00pm-9.00pm), Wednesday 27 February (10.00am-2.00pm), Tuesday 11 March (7.00pm-9.00pm), and Saturday 15 March (11.00am-3.00pm).

Policy Planner Ryan Bradleysays the Open Days are the third phase in a total of four opportunities for public consultation during the project. Following this phase of the project Councillors will be informed of the feedback and one (or a mix) of the proposals will be taken forward into the draft Waimauku Structure Plan. The draft structure plan will go out to another round of public consultation.
