Fortnight Left to Have Say on Rail Joint Venture

Time is running out for members of the public to have their say on plans for a joint venture to secure land for a proposed Marsden Pt rail corridor.

Friday, February 1 will mark the end of a six-week consultation period on plans by the Northland Regional Council and rail infrastructure agency ONTRACK for a 50/50 joint venture to share the costs of acquiring land for the approximately 16km long corridor.

Despite a longer-than-usual consultation period – and with just two weeks remaining for people to comment – the Council has to date (subs: Fri 18 January) received just three submissions.

Linda Stansfield, the Council’s Strategic Development Manager, today urged those keen to comment on the proposed venture to get their submissions in ahead of the February 1 deadline.

A full Statement of Proposal on the proposed joint venture can be obtained from the Council’s website www.nrc.govt.nz/jointventure or from any Regional Council office. Alternatively, people can telephone toll-free to request one on 0800 002 004.
