North Shore City Council opens tribute book for Sir Edmund

North Shore City residents wanting to pay tribute to the life of Sir Edmund Hillary will be able to do so via a special commemoration book, which is available for people to sign.

North Shore City Council chief executive, John Brockies, says Sir Edmund was a great New Zealander who garnered a huge amount of public affection for his lifetime achievements. Council believed it was important that its city’s residents had an opportunity to pay their respects to him and his family.

“The book will be available for people to sign at Takpauna Library until next Monday. It will then be presented to Lady Hillary and family as a sign of the huge amount of respect and high estem Sir Edmund was held in by the people of the North Shore,” Mr Brockies says.

North Shore City’s tribute book for Sir Edmund will be available for people to sign at the Takapuna Library during normal business hours until next Monday – January 21.
