Man In A Satisfactory Condition After Quad Bike Fall
A 45-year-old King Country man is in a satisfactory condition in Waikato Hospital as a result of a fall from a quad bike at Aria on Saturday.
Robert Greaves was transferred to Waikato Hospital by the Westpac Waikato Air Ambulance with a suspected pelvic injury and fractured sternum.
A short time later Mr Greaves' 13-year-old stepson was involved in a car accident nearby and he too was transferred to Waikato Hospital by Westpac Waikato Air Ambulance.
The teenager, whose name has not been released, was undergoing surgery today on his thumb.
The boy's mother, and Mr Greaves' wife, Doreen Greaves today said her husband was in a lot of pain and unable to talk to the media. She said having her husband and son involved in two separate accidents within a short frame was upsetting.
She thanked the Westpac Waikato Air Ambulance, St John Ambulance, Joy Hurley, ambulance drivers, Denis Greathead and his farm workers and the Gapper family who pulled her son from the car.
Meanwhile an 82-year-old Taranaki man injured in a car accident in Leamington, Cambridge last week has been transferred from Waikato Hospital's High Dependency Unit to the Intensive Care Unit. George Gibson Grant's partner Wilma Marr VOULLAIRE, 81, of New Plymouth died in the accident. Mr Grant is in a serious condition.
Finally Matthew John Purchase, the 21-year-old British agricultural exchange student shot in the head near Putaruru on December 8, is in a satisfactory condition in Waikato Hospital's High Dependency Unit and likely to be moved to the neurology ward after Christmas.
