New committee appointments made

Environment Bay of Plenty’s councillors have announced their committee appointments for the next three years – with all four newly appointed councillors stepping into deputy chair positions.

At the first full council meeting of the triennium today (Thursday 15 November 2007), councillors decided their committee roles and the schedule of meetings for the remainder of the year.

Chairman John Cronin said that with the committee appointments and meeting schedule in place, councillors were looking forward to the challenges of the next three years.

“We’re here to work for the whole region, and it’s great to have made a start with today’s appointments,” he said.

Committees and appointed councillors

Finance and Governance Committee: Cr Noble, chair; Cr Nees, deputy chair; all councillors.

Maori Committee: Cr Ford, chair; Crs Bennett, Marr and Vercoe, with the final numbers yet to be determined.

Operations Committee: Cr Whitaker, chair; Cr Marr, deputy chair; all councillors.

Regulation Monitoring & Investigation Committee: Cr Oppatt, chair; Cr Summerhays, deputy chair; all councillors.

Strategy Policy Committee: Cr Bennett, chair; Cr Mansell, deputy chair; all councillors.

Transport Committee: Cr von Dadelszen, chair; Cr Vercoe, deputy chair; Crs Noble and Whitaker.

Regional Land Transport Committee: Cr von Dadelszen, chair; Cr Vercoe, deputy chair; Crs Noble and Whitaker.

Total Mobility Management Subcomittee: Cr von Dadelszen, chair; Cr Vercoe, deputy chair; Crs Noble and Whitaker.

SmartGrowth Implementation Committee: Chairman Cronin, Crs Nees and von Dadelszen.

Rotorua Lakes Strategy Group: Chairman Cronin and Cr Oppatt.

Kaituna Maketu Joint Council Committee: Crs Noble, Bennett, Summerhays.
