Canaan Downs Festival 29th Dec 2007 – 2nd Jan 2008 Takaka Hill, Nelson Bays, Aotearoa

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Canaan Downs Festival

After more than a decade of dance events and tens of thousands of people through the gates, Canaan Downs is once again one of the 'must do' events of the annual festival season calendar.

Organisers have just released the line-up for this year's event, which promises to be one of the biggest and most diverse festivals in the country.

Callam Mitchell, one of the festival organisers, says this year's line-up was carefully chosen on musical integrity, flow, and vibe. Not wanting to be drawn into headline acts, Callam says the Canaan Downs philosophy is to treat all acts equally. "We program the lineup according to who is most musically appropriate rather than who has sold the most records."

There will be four music stages for this year’s event catering to lovers of all forms of live, and electronic music. The main stage will host some of the finest upcoming acts that New Zealand has to offer, as well as a handful of overseas acts who are travelling from as far as Canada and the UK.

The festival organisers are also promising the event will have as much impact visually as it will sonically. A crew of artists has been brought together to blend the already spectacular scenery with colourful festival artwork and installations. With plenty on offer for festival goers over the New Year period, Callam says Canaan Downs is catering to a totally different market “For us it's all about a relaxed vibe, friendly people, and beautiful environment. We want the experience of coming to Canaan Downs to be positive in every possible way.”

Tickets are limited to ensure the site isn't overcrowded and festival-goers will have plenty of space to set up camp, and with ticket prices remaining at $99 plus booking fee until the end of November, you'd be hard pressed to find a camping ground for four days at this price, let alone a festival to go with it!
