Open House this weekend!
The Hawke’s Bay Opera House is hosting an Open Day to celebrate the final completion of the venue’s redevelopment on Saturday 17th November from 10am to 3pm.
Over the past five years, the Hawke’s Bay Opera House has received a mammoth upgrade starting backstage and going right through into the new and unique Plaza area that now houses a ground breaking retractable roof.
Sally Jackson, Business Arts and Tourism Marketing Manager for the Hastings District Council said hundreds of performers would putting on a variety of displays throughout the entire Hawke’s Bay Opera House for everyone to enjoy.
She added “On show and FREE for everyone to enjoy will be stilt walkers, schools, bands, cultural groups, musicians of all types, marching girls, story tellers, face painters and café-style food created by the new on-site bar and eatery the Opera Kitchen.”
One of the highlights of the Open Day will be the unique retractable roof. A celebration of local engineering and an example of structural creativity and expertise pushed to the limits, the creation is an ambitious free standing structure unlike anything else in the world.
