Four new councillors for regional council

For immediate release: Friday 19 October 2007

There will be four new faces sitting around the Environment Bay of Plenty council table when the inaugural meeting is held on 31 October.

Jane Nees for Western Bay of Plenty, Hawea Vercoe for Okurei Maori, and Jim Mansell for Eastern Bay of Plenty are all first time Regional Councillors, while Karen Summerhays for Tauranga returns to the council table having previously represented Tauranga between 2001-04.

Environment Bay of Plenty will have 13 councillors in total this term – one less than last term following a representation review in 2006. The review reduced the number of seats in Rotorua from three to two.
