Urban fibre network a winner
North Shore City Council is delighted that Vector Communications won a TUANZ Innovation Award for its local broadband project.
Vector Communications won the category for Next Generation Fibre-Optic Network, for its North Shore Urban Fibre Network.
This network has so far connected 38 out of a potential 43 schools in the city, as well as the council buildings and libraries. The network is also available for commercial customers along its route.
North Shore City’s economic development manager, Roger Matthews, says working in partnership with Vector has been beneficial to the city.
“North Shore City is already a leader in the technology industry, this new Urban Fibre Network keeps us ahead of the game,” he says.
“Connecting schools will also allow for new approaches to education.”
Each year the TUANZ Innovation Awards recognise and reward innovation in telecommunications. Awards are for products or services originating or provided in New Zealand.
“North Shore City Council congratulates Vector Communications, and thanks them for the opportunity to be involved in such an innovative collaboration,” says Mr Matthews.
