Media Release -  for immediate release

Auckland Festival Appoints Marketing and Development Director

Auckland Festival announces its appointment to the newly created position of marketing and development director.

Amanda Magnus starts in this pivotal role on 15 October. She brings with her more than a decade of experience in sales, marketing and strategic development work on international exhibitions in New Zealand, Australia, England and India. Her most recent role was managing the major Home Shows in Christchurch, Tauranga and here in Auckland.

Ms Magnus says she is looking forward to taking Auckland Festival to the next level.

‘I will be looking to build on the excellent work that has gone before, making sure that the  three-week programme becomes recognised as one of the leading Arts Festivals in the Southern Hemisphere.’

Festival Director, David Malacari says Amanda Magnus stood out in a competitive field for her achievements to date.

‘Amanda managed the Auckland Home show which attracts more than 50,000 visitors and is the largest of its kind in Australasia.  Her experience in this role should help immensely and I’m delighted we have attracted someone of Amanda’s calibre onto our team.’

Amanda Magnus will be working closely with Mr Malacari and the Board of Trustees to ensure the festival continues to grow and better serve Auckland, and becomes a signature event for the region in 2009 and beyond.
