Improved Contracting Model For Bus Services
The Auckland Chamber of Commerce today welcomed the government legislation seeking to provide for improved bus service contracts.
However the fine print of the legislation needs to be examined to ensure that performance requirements provide adequate performance control over both commercial and subsidised services, said Chamber chief executive Michael Barnett.
“We endorse the case for improved affordable bus services that run on time and are efficient, and put the customer first,” said Mr Barnett. “For this to happen, an accountable contract that is transparent to all parties including passengers needs to be achieved.”
