Valley Action Network unveils billboards

Media release
VAN – Valley Action Network

Valley Action Network unveils its winning election billboards

VAN's eye-catching billboards will start appearing around Hutt City
from today.

"Unlike all the other bland, say-nothing election billboards which turn
people off,", predicts VAN organiser Grant Brookes, "ours are going to
become big talking points.

"There are plenty of them", he adds. "Our budget is peanuts compared to
all the other election campaigns, but we'll have more billboards than
any other candidate.

"We won't be adding to the visual pollution of the 'billboard farms' on
grass verges and median strips around the city, though. All our
billboards will be mounted on fences of Hutt residents.

"We've had no trouble finding householders willing to have our
billboards, because our policies are in tune with what people want."

The billboards, which are reproduced below, feature five of the points
from VAN's election programme:

• A Human City – Putting people before big business interests
• A Green City – Action on climate change. Zero tolerance for polluters
• Grassroots Democracy – Community Boards for all, with extra powers
• Rates Justice – Reductions based on need. Residents before greedy
corporations
• Free Council Services – Not just protected but extended
• Free and Frequent Public Transport – It makes climate sense and
serves the people.
