Incident Type: POLICE FIRED UPON

At approximately 2.20am this morning West Auckland Police Officers attempted to stop a blue 2006 Holden Commodore S vehicle, registration number DBY738.

The vehicle failed to stop and Police pursued the vehicle into O'Neils Road, Swanson, where it went into a ditch. As the Police Officers approached the vehicle the male offending driver threatened to shoot the Police Officers.

As one of the officers approached the drivers door, the offender pulled out a pistol and fired 2 shots towards the Officer.

The Police Officers were not hurt and backed off immediately. The offender then decamped the scene in his vehicle.

The offender is described as a male caucasian, aged approximately 30 to 40 years, medium to solid build, 5'10 to 5'11 in height, sandy hair, with a distinctive mole on the right side of his nose.

If anyone has information in relation to this vehicle or the possible identification of the offender, then they are to contact Police immediately on 111.
