Libraries celebrate Adult Learners’ Week

To celebrate Adult Learners’ Week 3 to 9 September, Auckland City Libraries are holding a variety of free workshops for adults at a number of community libraries.

For those interested in technology, workshops include computer classes, blogging, Trade Me, MP3s, texting and digital photography. History buffs can take a workshop on family or local history and the creatively inclined can take a workshop on knitting and book repair.

Throughout the year, Auckland City Libraries also offer a range of formal and informal learning opportunities for people to learn new skills, whether by borrowing books, attending computer classes and author talks or by participating in book clubs.

Adult Learners’ Week is a UNESCO initiative. It aims to:

• strengthen adult and community education
•
• raise awareness of and give better access to learning opportunities for adults
•
• celebrate the efforts and achievements of learning providers.
