Nominations in for local body elections
MEDIA RELEASE
Nominations in for local body
elections
For immediate release: Friday 24 August 2007
Nominations are in and all but one Regional Council seat will be contested during the upcoming local body elections.
By close off at noon today, Environment Bay of Plenty electoral officer Lucinda Butt had received 33 nominations for the 13 constituency seats.
Ms Butt says an election will need to be held for all constituencies except Mauao which has one nomination for its one seat. In a change to this year’s numbers, Rotorua has had its seats cut from three to two following a representation review in 2006.
One current regional councillor is standing down this year. This is Athole Herbert (Tauranga).
