New Tauranga office sites discussed

MEDIA RELEASE

New Tauranga office sites discussed

For immediate release: Friday 24 August 2007

Environment Bay of Plenty councillors have met and discussed potential sites for its new Tauranga office.

Chief executive Bill Bayfield said the council considered a short list of sites but at this time no decision on a site has been made.

“They will continue to investigate two of the short listed sites, and other possible opportunities to ensure Council identifies the best site for its Tauranga office.”

He said Environment Bay of Plenty requires a new site and building in Tauranga, regardless of the outcome of any judicial review.

“It’s important that we continue working to find a new location, as our offices are literally bursting at the seams. We need to have room for more staff in Tauranga, and will need a new office and location despite any legal review.”

Also discussed at the meeting was the preliminary design brief for the new building, and the scope and process for developing a mitigation strategy for the Eastern Bay of Plenty as a result of the HQ move.
