Changes to rail services on Sth Line this weekend

ARTA Media Release
8 August 2007

Changes to rail services on Southern Line this weekend

The Auckland Regional Transport Authority (ARTA) advises that on Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 August a revised timetable will be operating for all stations between Papakura and Otahuhu on the Southern Line. A bus replacement service will be in place for all stations between Homai and Otahuhu.

ARTA's General Manager, Customer Services, Mark Lambert says, “Disruptions to passengers, as track maintenance and improvement work takes place on this part of the rail network, are expected to be minimal. We would however advise passengers to check timetables and allow more time for their journey, as arrival and departure times will differ. The support and understanding of passengers is greatly appreciated.”

Mr Lambert said that between Homai and Otahuhu, where buses replace trains, the normal train fares will still apply for the whole journey.

Passengers are advised to look out for the RAIL BUS sign at affected stations.

RAIL BUS stops can be found at the following locations:

- Homai: park and ride bus stop

- Puhinui: the corner of Kenderdine and Puhinui Roads

- Papatoetoe: Shirley Road

- Middlemore: Hospital Road

- Otahuhu: Titi Street.

On Saturday 11 August, additional train services will be operating for the Air New Zealand Cup match between Auckland and Waikato, kicking off at 5.30pm at Eden Park. Passengers are advised to check train timetables carefully before travelling.

A revised timetable for all stations between Papakura and Otahuhu, including bus replacements between Homai and Otahuhu, will also be in effect on 25 and 26 August.

Southern Line passengers can get more information about revised timetables and bus replacements from MAXX on (09) 366 6400 or at www.maxx.co.nz
